Please acknowledge with us, that meetings of Council are held in the traditional territory of the Anishinabek where the Chiefs of Sagamok Anishnawbek, Whitefish River First Nation, and Atikameksheng Anishnawbek agreed to share this land through the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850.

  • CA-24-09 Be It Resolved That:  Items H.1 to K.3 inclusive contained in Part 1, Consent Agenda be adopted.

  • Be It Resolved That: The following Minutes are hereby accepted; The Regular Meeting of Council of April 23, 2024.

The following bylaws will be read and passed.

  • Be It Resolved That:  Bylaw No 3197/24 be adopted, being a bylaw to confirm the proceedings of Council during their regular meeting of April 23, 2024.

  • Be It Resolved That:  Bylaw No. 3196/24 be adopted, being a Bylaw to Authorize Billing and Collection  of Water and Wastewater Services for the Town of Espanola.

  • Be It Resolved That:  Bylaw No 3198/24 be adopted, being a Bylaw to execute and Agreement between the Town of Espanola and Product Care for the collection of lighting products for HHWD.

PART 2 - REGULAR AGENDA
  • Be It Resolved That: Council approve the creation of a senior family membership at the Recreation Complex as presented and direct staff to update the Tariff of Fees Bylaw to reflect this addition.

  • Be It Resolved That: Council approve the in kind donation request from the Espanola Pickleball Club to waive the arena floor and rink side auditorium rental fees on June 1st 2024 to offset the costs associated with hosting an invitational inter club tournament.

  • Be It Resolved That:  Council allow Aidan Kallioinen to attend the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference in Ottawa ON from August 18th - 21st, 2024.

  • Be It Resolved That:  Council allows Deputy Mayor Kelly to attend the AMO conference in Ottawa from August 18 - 21st, 2024.

  • Be It Resolved That:  WHEREAS over 90% of library funding comes from municipal governments across Ontario;

    AND WHEREAS current provincial formula for libraries across Ontario is based on population figures from over 25 years ago, and as a result the value of the province's total investment has declined dearly 60% in the last 25 years;

    AND WHEREAS library budgets require stability when faced with rising costs, technological changes, and increasing demands;

    AND WHEREAS our library in Espanola remains a sacred and valuable hub for residents, and is essential to the very fabric our our community;

    THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Province of Ontario support the attached resolution from the Town of Lincoln in-full, and commit to a re-evaluation of the current funding formulas for library services in Ontario;

    AND FURTHER THAT a copy of this motion be sent to the Premier of Ontario; The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport; MPP Mike Mantha; and to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
