Please acknowledge with us, that meetings of Council are held in the traditional territory of the Anishinabek where the Chiefs of Sagamok Anishnawbek, Whitefish River First Nation, and Atikameksheng Anishnawbek agreed to share this land through the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850.

  • CA-24-06 - Be It Resolved That:  Items H.1 to L.5 inclusive contained in Part 1, Consent Agenda be adopted.

  • Be It Resolved That: The following Minutes are hereby accepted;  Regular Meeting of Council of March 12, 2024; Special Meeting of Council of March 12, 2024; Special Budget Meeting of Council of March 20, 2024.

  • Be It Resolved That: The following board and committee reports are hereby received:  Community Services Committee Meeting of March 19, 2024

Joint Health and Safety Meeting of March 7, 2024 and Community Services Committee Meeting of March 19, 2024

  • Be It Resolved That:  Whereas the Corporation is responsible for conducting an annual review and approval of Policy #H04-01474, the Health and Safety Policy; and

    Whereas the Joint Health and Safety Committee is responsible for assisting and advising on the implementation and operation of the Health and Safety Program for the Corporation;

    Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Joint Health and Safety Committee endorse the annual approval of Policy # H04-01474, the Health and Safety Policy as presented.

  • Be It Resolved That:  Council approves the adoption of a lower age limit for youths to 9 years to use the fitness centre with an accompanied paying adult.              

  • Be It Resolved That: The contract to provide Household Hazardous Waste Service be awarded to GFL.

The following bylaws will be read and passed.

  • Be It Resolved That:  Bylaw No. 3188/24 be adopted, being a Bylaw to confirm the proceedings of Council during their regular meeting of March 12, 2024.

  • Be It Resolved That:  The following reports are hereby received;  Recreation Department Departmental Report; Public Works Department Departmental Report; Environmental and Special Projects Department Departmental Report; Fire Department Departmental Report; Building Department Departmental Report for February 2024.

PART 2 - REGULAR AGENDA
  • Be It Resolved That: Council supports the attached resolution from the County of Prince Edward, and further; That this motion be forwarded to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), all Ontario municipalities, MPP Michael Mantha, Premier Doug Ford, and Michael Parsa, Ontario Minister of Children, Community and Social Services.

  • Be It Resolved That:  WHEREAS current provincial-municipal fiscal arrangements are undermining Ontario’s economic prosperity and quality of life; AND WHEREAS nearly a third of municipal spending in Ontario is for services in areas of provincial responsibility and expenditures are outpacing provincial contributions by nearly $4 billion a year; AND WHEREAS municipal revenues, such as property taxes, do not grow with the economy or inflation; AND WHEREAS unprecedented population and housing growth will require significant investments in municipal infrastructure; AND WHEREAS municipalities are being asked to take on complex health and social challenges – like homelessness, supporting asylum seekers and addressing the mental health and addictions crises; AND WHEREAS inflation, rising interest rates, and provincial policy decisions are sharply constraining municipal fiscal capacity AND WHEREAS property taxpayers – including people on fixed incomes and small businesses – can’t afford to subsidize income redistribution programs for those most in need
    AND WHEREAS the province can, and should, invest more in the prosperity of communities AND WHEREAS municipalities and the provincial government have a strong history of collaboration THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Province of Ontario commit to undertaking with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario a comprehensive social and economic prosperity review to promote the stability and sustainability of municipal finances across Ontario
    AND FURTHER THAT a copy of this motion be sent to the Premier of Ontario (premier@ontario.ca); Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing (minister.mah@ontario.ca); the Minister of Finance (minister.fin@ontario.ca); and to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (amo@amo.on.ca)
